Barbecue Brisket Butty
TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- Butter
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 12 slices cheddar cheese
- Leftover brisket
- Gherkins, sliced lengthwise
- Barbecue sauce
Method:
- Butter each side of the bread and top one side of the toastie with three slices of cheese, a serving of leftover brisket that has been pulled with a fork, three slices of gherkins and a squirt of barbecue sauce.
- Place a slice of bread on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Heat a skillet on medium-high heat over the fire and melt two knobs of butter on it.
- Place each toastie on the skillet over medium-high heat; flatten down with a spatula and toast until golden brown then flip over and cook until the cheese has melted.
Club Sandwich
TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- Butter
- 8 slices white bread
- 8 slices turkey breast
- 8–12 bacon rashers, cooked crispy
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
Method:
- Butter each side of the bread and top one side of the toastie with turkey, crispy bacon, cheese, mayonnaise and mustard.
- Place a slice of bread on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Heat a skillet on medium-high heat over the fire and melt two knobs of butter on it.
- Place each toastie on the skillet over medium-high heat; flatten down with a spatula and toast until golden brown then flip over and cook until the cheese has melted.
Nutella Toastie
TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 4 free range eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 8 slices white bread
- 8 tbsp Nutella
- Butter, for frying
- Optional whipped cream, fruit and maple syrup
Method:
- Mix eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla in a bowl.
- Lay out bread and add a thick layer of Nutella (around one tablespoon) to each piece of bread, sandwich them together and press down.
- Melt two large knobs of butter on a frying pan or skillet over a medium-high heat fire.
- Dip each sandwich in the egg mix and place on the frying pan or skillet. Cook each side until crispy and golden brown.
- Serve with whipped cream, fruit and maple syrup as an option.
