Oztent has been a leader in quality camping products for 30 years and built its reputation on the 30-second tent design, sturdy camp chairs and picnic tables. They had recently expanded their camp-friendly range with a set of handy storage pods that may well have had the caravanning fraternity front-of-mind when they were conceived.
The pods are ideal storage options constructed with the quality materials and attention to detail we have come to expect from Oztent.
The Pods are made from black 410gsm canvas with a PVC inner lining and an open cell foam inner padding. The lids are clear PVC for quick identification and a zipper for easy packing. Inside is a divider with a Velcro attachment for versatile storage options. An external sleeve takes an identification card when the pods are loaded on a shelf. There’s even a set of ID cards supplied.
The pods come in three different sizes, and Oztent supplied each set us to try. We used them to tidy up the space under the bed, and two things were immediately apparent. The first was that we carry too much extraneous stuff. For example, do you really need four sets of sheets and five floor mats? The second was how nicely the pods transformed the mess into a neat space.
Now, rather than a disorganised jumble, we have the packed items we need and regularly use in a tidy and well-organised system. The spare bedding fitted in the large pod, wet and warm jackets are in a medium pod, and our swimming and snorkelling equipment is in the small one. The small pod is easy to carry and keeps gear like swimming items in one handy place. I often manage to leave either the mask or snorkel behind. Now it's one spot, and I can quickly check if it's all there.
I like how the pods pack neatly into position with enough flex in the walls to fit into place. The clear lid immediately shows what's inside, and the carry handles are well-designed and look durable enough to use without worry. The pods are neat and should appeal to a range of campers and caravanners who like to keep things well-organised. They might not be the cheapest alternative, but they look great and are made to last, as attested by a two-year warranty.
