The campground, which is inside Western Australia’s most-visited national park, Leeuwin-Natrualiste NP, is one of the most popular in the state.

Upgrades include 29 new campsites, bringing the total number to 116, with each site having its own fire ring and picnic table.

Other upgrades within the campground include new and improved roads, double cubicle toilets, barbecue shelters and improved signage.

The new facilities at Conto campground were funded by the state government’s Royalties for Regions program under the four-year $21.05 million Parks for People initiative.

Upgrades at campgrounds at Lucky Bay in Cape le Grand National Park and Potters Gorge in Wellington National Park are also under underway through Parks for People and are expected to be finished shortly.
