In a very innovative move by Conqueror, the UEV-490's spare wheel holder is actually a wheel hub and bearings, adding an extra layer of safety in case of an offroad emergency that involves seized bearings. In case that’s not enough, you can also slip off the spare tyre clamp and you’ll find its anodised steel design doubles as a portable barbecue!
The camper, which was previously a finalist in the 2015 CTA Camper Trailer of the Year awards, is weighing in substantially lighter than last year, with a 150kg weight reduction, which is welcome out on the tracks. And a Vehicle Components DO35 Hitchmaster coupling upfront adds even more to its offroadability. It comes with steel front quarter panels for rigidity and the drawbar/nose cone has been increased to 6mm thick for greater strength.
The UEV-490 boasts improved electrics, including a Redarc Battery Management System, a 270-degree batwing awning and permanently plumbed gas and water for quicker set-ups.
Other interesting features include key-alike locks to lessen the load on your keyring, improved door seals to reduce dust ingress,
The camper also has an extensive exterior bathroom with a stainless steel washbasin, a slide out vanity basin and a shower.
