Entry to all of Tassie’s 19 national parks will be free to visitors from August 27-29 (Centenary Weekend) and September 24-October 9 (Tasmanian school holidays).

This means visitors will not require a valid national parks pass when visiting any of the 19 national parks during the free entry period.

However, while campers will not need a parks pass provided they start their camping within the free period, camping and cabin fees will still apply for Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair, Freycinet, Southwest, Maria Island, Mount Field, Mount William, Narawntapu, South Bruny, and Tasman national parks.

Walkers on Tassie’s popular multi-day bushwalks such as Frenchmans Cap, Freycinet Peninsula Circuit, South Coast Track, Tasman Coastal Trail and Walls of Jerusalem will also not need a valid national parks pass provided their departure date falls within the free entry period. The normal Overland Track walk fee will apply to all walkers departing after October 1, when the Overland Track booking period commences.

Visitors are reminded that dogs and other pets are not allowed within Tasmania’s national parks and many areas within the parks do not have bins, so all rubbish must leave the park with you at the end of your stay.
