According to the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA), nearly 18,000 people walked through the gates at the recent Penrith Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo in early September. I'm not a number counter but, on the warm and sunny, spring day that I was there, there were plenty of people looking around.

There was a large range of caravans and motorhomes on display but I reckon that there was a comparatively high number of camper trailer and related accessories exhibitors as well.

A number of exhibitors had new models to show off; Travelander had its new Lantrex LT rear-fold camper, Johnno's was showing a new side-fold model and Goldstream RV had its curiously named Thunder rising-roof camper on display.

There were some familiar models in the burgeoning hybrid market such as Complete Campsite's Exodus 16 and Lifestyle Camper Trailer's Reconn Hypercamper as well as newcomers like the Jurgens' TuffTRAX. For the uninitiated, Jurgens is better known for its lightweight caravans and it’s a sign of the times to see the maker appealing to the camper trailer buyer, with the continuing rise of RVs that fit somewhere between a traditional caravan and camper trailer. It's a good move I reckon, and manufacturers are finding market niches and keeping customers happy.
