If you enjoy eating – and cooking - melt-in-your-mouth low and slow barbeque then the Tamworth Barbeque Festival is for you.
Grab your family and your mates and head to this beautiful town to take part in not just all things barbeque but brews, market stalls, barbeque demonstrations, a family day, three days of live music and a national motorcycle rally.
Barbequeing is a competitive pastime and there’ll be plenty of aficionados champing at the bit to take part in the barbeque competition at the Tamworth Festival, supported by the Australian Barbeque Alliance (ABA) with entries now open.
Teams will compete for cash prizes and barbeque glory in the categories of chicken, pork ribs, pork, lamb and brisket. With more than $19,000 worth of cash and trophies up for grabs there will be plenty of excitement for participants and onlookers. The Grand Champion Prize is $2500 and a trophy so there’s a lot at steak, sorry, stake!
Teams will not be able to sell or give away their food, but there are plenty of food options available at the festival. A huge range of food trucks will serve up mouth-watering barbeque delights along with hand-selected trade sites selling anything and everything barbeque, brew and bike related.
If you're a bike enthusiast you'll be pleased to learn the National Thunder Motorcycle Rally is back as part of the Tamworth Barbeque Festival. Rally activities will include a show & shine, displays and motorbike games.
Rally registration fee is $110 and includes entry to the Festival along with a memento rally patch and pin and a Tamworth Barbeque Festival stubby holder. Rally fees also permit riders access to guided rides and entry into bike-specific activities such as the show & shine event and bike games.
Rally participants are also welcome to be part of the Thunder Run to be held on the morning of Sunday 29 September. All bike brands welcome. There will be dedicated motorcycle parking, close to the event site, for rally participants.
If you’re visiting the Festival with your family, then Sunday 29 September is a day for the kids at the Imaginate Kids Festival which will feature cosplay characters, cars, amusement rides and music.
There’ll be movie-themed car displays including a 1989 Batmobile, the DeLorean Time Machine and Lightning McQueen. Interactive shows will feature Jurassic Jack, Larrikin Puppets and Amelie Ecology and don’t miss photo opportunities with your favourite superhero including Humphrey B. Bear, Chewbacca and other Star Wars characters.
As well as all that activity there’s a selection of amusements, ride and art and craft.
The Tamworth Barbeque Festival is not short on entertainment, with two stages offering more than 20 hours of live music over the three days of the festival. With a great mix of music on offer there's something for everyone.
Included in the lineup are local and national artists such as Sarah Head, Sally-Anne Whitten and the Rumour Mill, Liquid Zoo, Sweet Talk, The Wolfe Brothers, Matt Barratt, Jack and the Axes, Savage Groove, Brother Hollow, Hurricane Fall, Chloe & James, Jayne Denham, Y.O.G.A., One Job, Buddy Knox Blues Band and Crazy Train.
