On October 10, Ultimate Campers went into voluntary administration. The company was placed in a stand-still position operationally. Administrators sought an ideal financial solution for all parties, sounding out the possibility of suitable investors.
The hearts of many camper trailer enthusiasts sunk upon hearing the news. Many assumed we had seen the last of Ultimate. But in November, Eagle Outdoors Group purchased the brand, granting it a chance to rebuild.
A lot will remain the same as it was before the voluntary administration, with the campers still manufactured in the same factory in Moruya, NSW. They won’t be rebranded, but will continue under the ‘Ultimate’ name.
Furthermore, approximately 20 employees have retained their jobs, which is around 40 to 50 per cent of the pre-administration team. The founders of the Eagle Outdoors Group, David and Bronwyn Rodgers, say they are pleased to have these staff on board.
“We are delighted to be re-employing many of the local team who know this product inside out and will take us forward in the years ahead,” they said.
“We are one hundred per cent committed to the people and local community who have made this amazing camper such a success over the past two plus decades.
“These are high-quality campers that will continue to be made in Australia, by Australians, for Australian off-road adventures.”
Eagle Outdoors Group are based in Pakenham in Melbourne and have been in operation since 1978.
Their other brands include Blue Water Campers and Emu Campers, as well as various other clothing, protective cover and camping gear brands.
This move represents the addition of a premium end camper to their repertoire.
